Lynda Carter

 Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is of English and has Scots Irish Her ancestry is Scots Irish and English as is her mother, who is Mexican and Spanish. Carter has one brother named Vincent and a sister, Pamela. Carter was just 5 years old when she made her television debut on the Lew Kings Talent Show. Carter was a part of Just Us during high school. The band used a conga drum, marimba, an acoustic bass and stand-up basses. One of the girls in the group also played guitar. At age 15, Lynda began singing in the local pizza restaurant for extra cash. 8 years later, at 16, Lynda was a member of two cousins in forming another group, The Relatives. The actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer for the group. The group opened in the Sahara Hotel and Casino lounge in Las Vegas for three months and because Carter was under 21 , she had to enter through the kitchen.Carter was a student at Arizona State University. After being named "Most gifted", she dropped out to pursue a career in the field of music. Carter auditioned for The Garfin Gathering in 1970. She then went on the road together with Howard (Speedy), Garfin. Their first performance took place in the Holiday Inn Chinatown in San Francisco that was so brand new that it didn't have a sidewalk entrance. They played mostly to the hotel staff as well as guests who parked their cars in the underground garage. The Garfin Gathering toured the Nevada "Silver Circuit" performing shows in numerous casinos in the state's lounges, which were situated between Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Reno, and Las Vegas. Carter had to quit the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972, and later returned to Arizona.
